Do you have an uninstalled Mark V Motor
If you have and you have the motor available, would you please take a couple photos of the access port where the power cord enters and attaches to the motor (a circuit board inside the motor).
This is a shot "similar" to what I am looking for.

This photo is of the motor on the Power Station (which is different than the Mark V) but shows what I am interested in seeing.

That appears to be either your Power Station or Crafters's Station motor and is an 'Emerson'.
My recollection of when I had my Emerson 1 1/8HP Mark V motor apart is identical to your pix.
I believe the red wire goes to the start capacitor.
The metallic strip is I believe a 'jumper' to the other side of the start switch.
I think the black wire(from inside) is a winding connection.
Other internal wires terminate on the back of that board.
My 'recollections' are not always 100% accurate.

Darn it, Dusty! Thought I had posted two pics, but obviously only reviewed the post - then left!
Anyway, here are the two photos I took. There are no wires from the power cord that go into the motor. The Green wire from the cord attaches onto the outside of the motor. The black and red from the power cord attached to the power switch.
Darned if I know where the blue and white wires from the motor attach. To the best of my memory, they were not attached to anything. Seems like the circuit would not be complete unless they were attached somewhere, but I can''t remember removing them from anywhere.

If I understand< Charlese, you are saying that before you took the cover off of this motor to take the pictures there were two wires (blue and white) coming out of the motor.
MY GUESS: Those two wires have to be the AC input to the motor. I would guess that they both went (initially) to the switch. The switch would also be connected to the AC power cord. The third wire (green) in the AC power cord would connect to the casing of the motor.

Your first Paragraph is correct - - -
As for your "guess" - here's what we've got;
Went out after supper to see where those two wires connected. The white wire has a male connector and mates with the female connector on the white wire of the power cord. Since the short green wire from the cord screws to the outside of the motor - this leaves only the blue wire from the motor and the black wire from the power cord to connect to the power switch. And they both are long enough (+/- 12") to make that connection easily. (I never did pay attention to the color of the two wires on the switch)

For the record, the wiring depends upon the switch. The newer style switch has come in two version DPST and now the SPST. So for the DPST both wires from the motor would go to the switch. For the SPST only the hot leg would go to the switch and the neutrals (white) would be connected directly.
