Is this one restorable?

I found this for sale near me. I haven't been to look at it because my tuck is in the shop. He is asking $250. It looks like a basket case to me. There are actually two Shopsmiths If you look closely you can see the 510 table in the back ground. I had a phto that showed both of them but I can't find it. When I asked if he was selling them both he replied every thing in the pictures. I wonder if that includes the garden tools.

Has anyone restored any of these tools that look this bad?
Did it cost you more restore than a new one?

It's possible, but do ya want to put that much work into it? $250.00 seems high to me.

Yes I was thinking more like $50-100.

He says there are two Mark Vs involved. If one was to part out the two motors, he would have his money back. What he can get for the rest of the parts is all gravy. Yes, there is a lot of rust but baking soda and water is cheap. What do you think is fair price for a bandsaw, jointer, belt sander and two Mark Vs (really old)?

Each piece is going to have to be restored and no telling what parts may be needed. I wood knot give any more than $100.00.

If it is not too far away, it is worth looking at. Just think what the mystery box of accessories might contain. And, he is asking $250......

What will he take?

Frankly it doesn't look all that bad to me...
As Dusty pointed out there is a bandsaw, jointer and belt sander right there. I also noted a front table extension in the first picture. Look up completed auctions on Ebay for those items.
Eegads!!! Why should we always assume the worst and call everything junk? I bought over 2 dozen of these things and only one was not worth well over what I paid for it and I got my money's worth in it.
Go ahead, call me nuts but I refuse to go through life sounding like Eeyore... Don't waste your life looking at how bad things can be all of the time. Sure be realistic but don't just always look for the worst. Look for the possibilities as well.
Nothing says that you can't offer much less...

looks like elbow grease and oil could take care of most of the things I saw. I'd sure give it a good look. Especialy since that looks like a 510 in the background (if it is the 2nd Shopsmith)

I seem to be seeing 2 bandsaws: one on the bench in pic 1 and one on the floor in pic 3.

There were more photos taken from a further away. I can't locate those now. These clearly showed two Shopsmiths.

I may not get a chance to check them out. My truck has been in the shop for weeks with a crazy electrical problem.
