I suppose some of us have seen the NEW Mark VIIs that Shopsmith has for sale on their web page.

I've read the whole section on Mark VIIs, and still have not figured out how the "under the table" router/shaper works.

Where are all the comments on it?

What's to understand other than how the table tilts 90° in that direction?

The arbor extends up from under the table. The DC is then from above. The fence is as when headstock is above the table.

Like a router table, except the ss headstock is holding the 'bits'.

BTW they are Mark 7's!;)

BTW they are Mark 7's!]It appears the Mark 7 work table legs have a gear rack machined on both sides. For under table work, you pull the work table and reverse it.

I have seen that mentioned, but have as yet not seen a pix(lord knows I have looked-apparently not in the right place). It makes sense as a way to accomplish it with minimal deviation from Mk V.

So new end castings, new tie bars, and new posts for main table.- - - Slick!!!

Missed that since the 'normal side' rack is not visible in that pix. Also missed that the 'normal side' rack would be on the opposite side! i.e. noticed one set, but mindset was looking for two sets.

Sure was easier to do that then a trunion redesign.

Notice that in that picture the Main Table is in its normal position.

I spoke with Customer Service yesterday and they reaffirmed that when going to Shaper Mode the Table is lifted out of the carriage, turned 180 and reinserted. Nothing was done to the tilt apparatus; only to the rack (rack both sides).

At first thought I felt that moving the 'table controls' to the 'back' side as a result of 180° rotation would be a negative.

Further consideration reveals that the 'back' side would be the feed side so it is a plus!(one could also reverse the crank/shaft[?])[works on a 500]

Reaching the power switch remains a (you fill in the word).

P.S. Is the carriage lock also reversible???? It be asymmetrical about the way tubes!
