[quote="hoagie"]did you make and use the "press block" that is called for? [quote]
I used the hole in the bottom blank as a "press block".

Sanding jig

Post by MikeG »

I have been using this jig for sanding my blanks to the brass tubes on my last couple of pens and I am happy with the results.:)

It is just a 9" long piece of 1/4" CR rod that I resized to fit in the tube of the blanks. I square it to the disk by tilting the table and turning the miter gauge, as the stop rod holes are not true to the miter gauge bar & table top. It is very stable as I don't use much pressure against the sanding disk. The ends have been very true when the pens are assembled, so I may not have to sharpen the old barrel trimmer again for a long time.:D
