Tool holder

Good afternoon to all my fellow woodworkers:

This question concerns a travelling academy project. Mike Cobb was the instructor in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area in July, 2006. One of the projects that he had shown was a tray-type tool holder that would fit on the way tubes. My question is twofold: 1) Has anyone else seen this and 2) Does anyone out there have the measurements for this project?

I have seen trays that lay across the way tubes. I'm not sure if it's the one you saw. This sounds like a good entry level design project for those of us that have not designed a project before. That way you can include dividers, etc. that better meet your specific needs.

You more than likely saw the same thing as I did. I was hoping that if someone out there would be able to get in contact with Mike Cobb (assuming he is still with Shopsmith) and see if he wouldn't mind posting his plans, it would be greatly appreciated. Drawing has never been my forte, anyway.

Oops! Actually, this is a picture of Mike Cobb's tool holder (taken during a TA session). The measurements are from the one I made.

Here's a picture of the tool holder I made from a picture of Mike Cobb's original. Hopefully it will help. The box is 12"x20"x2 3/4" (outside measurements).

Here is my version of the tool tray. Some didn't like it due to the plywood bottom. I prefer that first because I had the wood on hand and secondly no little cracks for tiny things to disappear or get stuck in.

My deminsions ar 17" X 13" and 3" high. I made my grooves a bit deeper than the tray I saw in the Traveling Academy with the bottom 1 1/4" from the bottom. My finish is a bit rough but considering how I use them that's okay with me. I made two and found I learned a great deal in the process. Good luck. Jim
