Did you do an inspection of the replaced parts? If so, were there any outward signs of wear that would indicate the rollers would perform as they did.

Were these the older rollers or the later replacement rollers which are a hard rubber?

The outfeed roller was of the early version ripples (ridges) on outer surface of roller. The new roller is of the solid rubber type. I also installed the metal plate on the bottom of the dust chute. It has been laying around here for 5 to 10 years.

It is good to hear that new rollers seem to have solved your problem but be aware that even with the rubber rollers you can have the same symptoms. I speak from on-going experience. Mine drifts to the left right now and has for some time. In my case, I "suspect" that it is because I have blades cutting just a tiny bit deeper on one side.

I was doing some extensive surface planing this summer and noticed that the pieces were .002-.003 deeper on one side. It seems that this might create an unequal feed thus the drift.

Have you tweaked outfeed roller springs?
If you think it is light pressure causing the lead. A half turn at a time down, one full turn may make a difference. You know after you plane a board though you can unplug the planer motor (or Mark V off) and feed the board though and the tweak the springs after each pass. Turn the board end for end to see the thinner makes a difference.
I am not sure about planer rollers but some conveyor belts will track to the tight side. I don’t want to say all, because that covers a lot of territory. Probably where crown roller comes into play.

Thanks for the feedback and thoughts, hew. I know that I need to go through the planer with a fine tooth examination. It gets used a lot and maintained very little.

I will post the findings if there are any.
