The 'pix' is a crude indicator of what dimensions I think I need.

A = Pivot to lower gas tube attachment point _____ ", just inside bench tube?.

B = Gas tube attachment point separation Lowered = __________ > 18"
--------------------------------------------------Raised = ____27"______ < 36"

C = Pivot to lower gas tube attachment point Approx 9 1/2"

D = Pivot to arm attachment point of gas tube Lowered = ___________
------------------------------------------------------Raised = ___________

E = Pivot to arm mounting bracket on way tube = __________

F = Arm mounting bracket to gas tube attachment point on arm = _________

The Mark 5 way tubes are 'exposed' for 48 1/2" and the pivot is approx 1 1/2" further out. I will be assuming the Mark 7 pivots are approx 51 1/2" apart.

This makes perfect sense as the difficulty of raising the headstock while positioned for under table operations is probably slight.
