Magna 735 jig saw

I have a 12 1/2 " model #735 Magna jig saw from my grandfather. I reconditiond it and wondered how old it is. Serial R 75A-7

I have that same jigsaw that I got as a kid brand new between 1956=1958. I haven't been able to find any info on it, I need a hold down foot that the air hose hooks to. I hope that gives you an idea of age My serial number is 75A-7 odd? If anyone has a pic of the hold down foot I would appreciate it so I can fabricate one thanks

Rhino - I know this is an old thread, but I just joined looking for info on my #735. Do you still need the photo of the hold-down foot?

Welcome to the Shopsmith Forum. I don't believe Rhimo will answer since that was his only posting here on the Forum and was over 6 years ago.

The Model 735 12-1/2” Jig Saw was part of the Magna Line Tools from back in the later 1950's. It included what we now know today as the SPT's (special purpose tools) that included the 18" Jig Saw Model 610, 4" Jointer Model 620, 11" Bandsaw Model 630, 6" Belt Sander Model 640 and the Magna Compressor/Sprayer Model 660. These five Add-A-Tools as they were also called back then could be used on the Shopsmith Mark 5 besides being used as stand-alone tools on a purchased or homemade stand.

Besides these, the Magna Line Tools included the Model 735 Magna 12-1/2” Jig Saw you have, the Model 710 Magna 9” Tilt Arbor Bench Saw (or a Floor Model on a stand and had a Combination setup with the Magna 4” Jointer Model 620), the Model 730 Magna 12-1/2” Drill Press, the Model 740 Magna 30” Wood Lathe, Model 745 Magna 4” Belt Sander and the Model 780 Magna 10” Contractors Saw (a Floor Model). Although part of the Shopsmith/Magna history these Magna Line Tools are not very common, so little is ever posted about them here. Below is a picture of a Model 735 Magna 12-1/2” Jig Saw.
