For what it's worth, I have a similar looking planer sold by Sears that was made in Taiwan. It's a Craftsman model number 351-233731. The on-off switch, reset button, elevation crank, and bed rollers look identical and are in the same positions as on the Shopsmith model. Even the raised areas on the housing for the cutter head and feed rollers are there. Sears sold the planer as a 12 1/2" model, however. A manual for the Sears planer is here: http://www.hammerwall.com/Manuals/Craft ... /L0711560/

Thanks Art! i contacted ShopSmith yesterday and the really nice lady told me mine was a Jet Model, model JWP-12, and i should call them. I called Jet, got Danny Duncan on the line and he went out of his way to help......said to give him my e-mail address and a manual would be on the way! i have it now and can order parts and anything else i need for it.

i bet Art's manual is a Sears copy!!

anyway, if anyone needs a copy, let me know and i'll get right out to ya!!

Happy New Year, bill

I wonder if this planer was among the many offerings in the old Shopsmith Stores that were around the country. I remember going in the one here in San Diego many years ago out of curiosity (my Dad still had his 10ER and I was Shopsmithless). I remember it as having a whole lot of stuff, kind of like a Rockler store.

Hi I believe I have the same ss planer the heavy portable 12 in. one. I have the manual that came with it minus the gage to set the blades.
It was built in 1991 so it may not have been offered in later years. I Believe it is a copy of the jet model. If your still in need of one I will get one to you. Just PM me.
