I watched it but wish it had been a longer segment. I think that it was all of maybe 3 minutes. It did show the new Power Pro Mark 7 and the seven functions and showed the factory in Dayton and a small set of the assembly of the tool and Mr. Folkerth talking a little about it. Sure would like to see SS get back into doing live demo's like they used to do.

I had every intention of watching it, but we've had my Dad in the hospital which included loosing any chance of sleep Tuesday night while sitting in ER, so I crashed and burned around 8 last night without even giving it a 2nd thought.

The new Mark 7 is officially a 'cool tool'. I personally believe the entire 30 minutes should of been devoted to the new Shopsmith, but that's only my opinion. I had a factory tour back in 2007 and one good thing I noticed last night was the number of people working in the factory. There were more people working which to me is a good sign. I've seen the milling machine up close and it amazed me. As I recall the were a number of these machines which reminded me of many 10E/ERs which were modified for machine tooling operations. Well, I hope to see more in magazines and TV on this new machine.

Since we are on the subject (sort of) and we always side track most threads let me ask you opinion of the show itself.

I watch COOL TOOLS because I like tools but I really hate the show. The narrator Chris Grundy is so over the top, with little or no tool skills and I believe even less tool knowledge. To me he seems like an actor cast to play a part he has no knowledge of. I have seen him grasp tools in the most unnatural way and that tells me he has never seen or used the tool before. Since I'm totally trashing the show let me say it appears to be more a poorly done infomercial than a program to discuss new tools.

Any other opinions?

I don't care for the program but I can not comment except to say: I just don't watch the program.

I have to agree with Ed on this. Grundy is too much. Now if DIY would bring back "Tools & Techniques" with David Thiel, I might actually learn a thing or two.

I noticed the 'videos' were indeed essentially infomercials.

That being the case, 3 min of Mark 7 on such a show ain't shabby(and probably not cheap). Perhaps we will be seeing more in the future.
