Need advice and where to find parts for 1976 SS

1973-1978 Mark V. The SS serial number is a 4 digit # 5009 which coincides with 73-78. SS 11" bandsaw, serial #505641.

Where can I get the following?

adjustable rings collars for the tailstock.

bandsaw table insert (round center cap)

a coupler that will engage the headstock to the bandsaw (note the headstock stubshaft has 4 grooves on it and the bandsaw hub has 5 grooves. They both have the same outside diameter. Do I need to change one or are there couplers that will slide right onto my setup?

I found the coupler, yay! It does not state if it will bolt up to my motors 4 grooved hub and my bandsaws 5 grooved hub though.

If you have your Mark V, please verify the serial number. I am unable to determine the year of manufacture for a machine bearing a 4 digit serial number.

Hi Dusty, I went here (see link below) to track down the serial number. It shows 1973 to 1978 only used a 4 digit serial number. My tag on the headstock reads SS-5009. Looking at thier charts all the rest have 5 digits. Therefore I am assuming it was made somewhere bewteen 73 and 78. Could that be correct?

Thanks for the link as I am trying to sponge up all the info I can get from this site! I spent quite a bit of time here reading BEFORE I went shopping for SS machines. I think I got a very nice deal and surely saw a lot of junky ones which I may have gotten burned had I not read the articles here.

I love evrything about the SS except for its small table saw but I will not be using that anyway. Being an ex-maniac..err I mean mechanic, I just love the way its built and desiged and its parts availabilty. I plan to give it the once over..lube and maintainence and then spit shine it. ..Thent ake some pictures and post them up here.

Dusty, the link you gave me showed serial numbers corrsponding with the year of the bandsaw. My bandsaw tag reads:

Model 505641
SS-1073

I am assuming it is a 1981 bandsaw according to the chart.

Yes, reference to that other chart does indicate that time frame. I usually do not use that chart; maybe I need to.

Yes!......

The two hubs shown in the pix are for attaching to the two aux power output shafts on the headstock. They both have four splines. All the SPT hubs have 5 splines. Most are 5/8" id, but the jointer and the jig saw are 1/2"
