I have often pondered how a metric crescent wrench differed from a 'normal' one!:D

The size is listed in MM or CM. An 8 inch wrench is listed (usually on the other side) as a ** CM wrench.

But, the "inch" wrench will work better on a bolt that is "inch." A "Metric" wrench will work better on metric bolts. Yes, if your machine has both, you're out of luck. (Unless you can turn the wrench over.):D

Now, that is funny!

Steve, It's been darned cold since Christmas. We got about 8" snow between Christmas and New Years. -17 for a couple days. A couple of 10 hr power outages, so pipes froze, well water doesn't pump, kinda miserable for a while.
Snow still on the ground, mixed with mud. (surfaced roads east of Snowflake, what's that?)
NOAA predicts a high of 58 on Monday. I'm happy for the snow. Recharges the aquifer.

I happen to know the answer to JPG's question. A metric adjustable wrench's overall length is measured in centimeters. An imperial adjustable wrench's overall length is measured in inches. But either will work on the either type of fastener. It really is just naming convention.
