Have to agree with all others..... You did a nice job! Looks good and very functional.

They do tend to be a problem at times during clean up as they make great sawdust and wood chip collectors. In fact, I removed mine and mounted to a near by wall just because of the dust collecting problems.

I have thought about making one myself, but I also see it as real cleanup chore. If I make one it'll be a cabinet with drawers to allow stuff to be out of the dust, and I can lock it up away from my son's inquisitive fascination with sharp tools (he's 6 years old).

I did see an image of an under cabinet, but I think I'd like to have it bolted to the same holes as the shelf, so it'll allow the drill press mode to be doable, and also add some rigidity to the whole system for lathe work.

Just looked again & it looks as though this unit hangs from the lower tubes. My BAD. Sorry. I still want a cabinet for mine.

hey mgdesigns I made one that uses those bolt holes. I have pics posted on my website here.
I built it cut and fit so I didn't post any plans, however I made the shelf and frame out of white oak and the box is ½" ply that's screwed to the shelf. I didn't glue the box to the shelf, just lots of #8 screws. The front and back extend way past the base legs, but not past the table (that was the idea, but in fact...). It extends 2" too much in back and I can't use the telescoping legs because they will hit the box in back.
I was planning to use the ideas in that thread you linked to, but thought this way was easier.

Yes, that's the idea!! Have the shelf attach to all of the bolt holes front & back, and have drawers and cubbies for the tools to stay out of the bulk of the sawdust.

I inherited a set of kitchen cabinets for the former next door neighbor when they remodded, so I may have all of the makings for free.

This looks like a great project. I'm currently doing a complete revamp of the shop and the biggest challenge, as always, is to get things well organized. Still, I like the attached shelf idea too.
