Finished intrasia project
Just finished this intrasia. Modified the pattern from Woodworks & Crafts to create more detail then used a google search to find a coloring book pattern of the flag. Project finished with 150 shaped pieces. Everyone likes it....I personally think I could have done better. It's hard being a perfectionist.
Basswood feathers, ceder tongue, golden oak lips, walnut mouth and eyes. The flag is 1/2 inch ply and the stars are 1/8 inch balsa. Cut on a Hawk scroll saw and shaped with a dremel. Polished with a buffing wheel on the SS.
It was fun.

Very Nice Job! I myself can't seem to hold onto the small pieces while sanding them but, my wife who got into crafting years ago has made several pieces (mainly animals) using my scrap lumber and even lots of western redwood. Ebay and yardsales has brought her lots of complements and a continued growth of patterns. In fact, one of the local vet's has her art work displayed in his office and animal waiting room.. (soothing to the waiting animals I would guess).
Make more and put them on display! You have done an excellent job!

Great job! I love intarsia work and hope to try it myself someday.
