Belt Sander Drive drum cover.

As i look at the parts list it appears that only the entire drum assy. is offered.
all i need to do is replace the rubber cover. Can I purchase just that from Shopsmith?:rolleyes:

Is the cover disintegrated, or just loose? It can be glued.

Yes, I have purchased several of the rubber covers from Shopsmith. I ask for and speak to Linda (CS) for these non-listed Shopsmith parts as she goes out of her way to find these items for me.

I purchased a used SS V510 with jointer, beltsander, and bandsaw.
I going through everthing and cleaning, lubing, etc. and discovered from my sander manual that there is supposed to be a rubber sleeve on that drum.
there appears to be some sort of adhesive residue on the drum but that is all.

The part number for the drive sleeve is 502932. Just ordered one last month. Some of the belt sander manuals actually list the part number for it.

Thanks guys! Boy am I glad to have this forum. I called and ordered my sleeve. I was unable to get Linda because it connected me with the next available agent. However, the guy knew what i wanted and took care of it.
He said to use contact cement to put it on.....sound ok?
also, while i have the string going, can someone give me a step one two three on how to get the drive drum exposed to put the sleeve on. That would save me from stumbling my way through it.

You will need to remove the drive drum. There is a sawdust session where Nick tears down a belt sander that should prove helpful. As for installing the sleeve, I clean up the drive drum and then install the sleeve without adhesive. I then pull the sleeve back over itself exposing half the drum and the underside of half the sleeve. I apply adhesive to the exposed drum and sleeve and, after whatever cure time is required, pull the sleeve back onto the drum. I then repeat for the other side. Have fun with it!]
