I see a SS Dust Collector on Craiglist semi-local to me in AZ...
seller says it is about 15 yrs old (and of course, "has been used very little" as everything on CL has
) and he wants $200 for it.
I am not familiar with the DC3300, except thru the ShopSmith ads I have seen for it.
How good is this dust collector - compared to others brands? Is $200 a fair price?
thanks for your input

I like my dust collector, Doug, and it works as well today as when it was new nearly twenty years ago. I do believe it is worth $200.
However; the motor, the fan blade and the dust bag are elements that you must consider in determining worth.
The motor is expensive to replace and could fail at anytime. The fan blade, if it has gotten damaged, is near worthless and would need to be replaced.
The dust bag needs to be in good condition or the dust collector is ineffective.
Is an old dust collector worth $200? A new one costs about $550.

I have a DC3300, circa 1985, that still works just like new. I would definitely not be able to claim that it had been used very little. The only maintenance has been to replace the foam air filter behind the air intake, and I have also replaced the front casters.
Why don't you go to see the dust collector and hear it run.
