Waiting 5 months for lathe chuck, no reply from SS

That is now how my Oneway Stronghold chucks are adapted for the Shopsmith. Oneway makes a 5/8" straight bore adapter for their chucks that keep the chuck closer to the headstock.

I got a Nova G3 chuck with the right adapter shipped free at Christmas for $120, on Ebay. I hope I can use it soon. I have lots of bowls and platters to make out of 345 year old bur oak.

I have the Talon chuck and the part number for the SS adaptor is 0260. It should be available directly from One Way. Phone # on the box is 1-800-565-7288.

Knot necessarily. Mine from SS, has a faceplate looking type of adapter. That screws onto the chuck with 5 screws.

Are you meaning to say that the required adapter is dependent on which Oneway I might have? They are not universal?

I think I got cheated, mine only has three screws holding the adaptor on the chuck.

i'm sure he has only three screws also. the other two holes are for removing the adapter.

OKAY, I remembered 2 more screws than there are.
Dusty, that adapter wood allow ya to use the chuck on any 1-Inch 8tpi lathe spindle. Or any chuck set up for a 1-Inch 8tpi lathe.

Bob, I was asking questions not challenging anyone. I have not done any real turning. That has never been my thing but these discussions interest me. I just may give it a try but it appears I need to accumulate a few more tools to do so. I have no adapters (of this sort).
