Collet Chuck to Hold Drive Center

Post by barretthanks »

I didn't get the Shopsmith drive center with my used system. I do, however, have a collet chuck (PSI) and a drive center with a #2 morse taper. The drive seems to be inbetween collets, though, with the largest too big and the next smallest too small to fit in far enough to be reliably centered. Does anyone else use a collet chuck to hold the drive and if so, how do you do it? Thanks.

The morse taper drive you have is not compatable with the PennState collet chuck. They have different tapers. I believe the collet chuck has an ER-type taper and I don't think you'll find a drive center that fits. Your best bet is to get a drive center from Shopsmith or through E-bay.
