I have purchased a new Forrest thin kerf blade for a 510. I noticed that a "stiffener" plate may be purchased seperately. Is this an accessory that any of you would recommend?

I don't use a stiffener but then I also do not use a Forrest blade. If Forrest recommends one, I would use it. Does Forrest offer a stiffener for use on the Shopsmith arbor?

Whats the hole size? If it's a 1 1/4 don't think I'd bother with the stiffener.
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders, molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

I have used a Forrest blade for years on my 500. I have two, one with, one without the stiffener. Both are inch and a quarter arbor. I would recommend a stiffener due to the thin kerf. It does not make a big difference, but it will give a slightly better cut. There is no issue with them fitting in the arbor.
Forrest blades are by far the best you will find, just be sure to return them for factory sharpening every few years.
