Should I???

Post by gat_76 »

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but I found a SS w/ bandsaw listed as "never even turned on" for $600.

I'm thinking i should. Maybe try to sell the old one I just got.

His was "SS w/bandsaw"...

Of course the part that was not in the ad was the rest of the statement that says "turned on this week"... :D :D :D

I did not make my point very well.

A new bandsaw is worth almost the offer price which would make the Shopsmith FREE.

And a free Shopsmith is pretty hard to say no to... :)

Thanks, I tend to get ahead of myself and miss the big picture sometimes. He just emailed me back, he still has it. I expect to receive pictures any moment now.

The question is what on the old one are you going to sell? If you think you are going to sell the old SS, you probably won't. I thought I would too and then I convinced myself with the help of the forum to keep both SS, make one a mini if needed but have it as a back up motor / powerstation. Just make sure it is a good deal and shoot try to talk him down a bit since it hasn't been maintained and you have to take it all apart to oil it. :D

Just talked to him. He I 3 hours away ( not far in Texas), so I can't just hop over and take a look.

I am sad to say that it was not new when he bought it. It has been in a barn since his dad bought it a long time ago. He has no idea if his dad oiled it before he put it up. He knows didly squat about them (like me a week ago), so I told him what to take pictures of.

So, I guess it's 50/50 that it's a sweet deal. I will see. Hipefully the pictures will tell me if it is worth the drive to look at. Maybe I'm down playing it too much in my head.

For the price, it's worth the drive. IMO!
Keep the old one.

Post by emin3m197869 »

I recently started to disassemble my shopsmith mark v to refurbish it and had to turn o a different project first.. Now my problem is putting my speed control nob back on... I thought I had it correct but it's not spinning at all... Does anyone have up close photos on how this goes back together? Any help would be awesome. Thanks
