Another very busy week! Between shoveling snow, arranging the return of my van and buying a new one, Christmas shopping, and the projects I had to finish, there was little time for some of the other important things.
I just finished putting up the outdoor decorations about 4:00pm today, and still haven't found time to get a present for my dear wife. Because of the amount of snow we have had, the decorations could not be put in the usual places and have had to be bunched somewhat nearer the house. One angel did not even make it to the lawn(?). As to the present, there is still tomorrow and I am noted for last minute shopping.
On the woodworking side, I finished the two 36" lighted Christmas trees around mid-week and satisfied that customer. The two larger (6') trees were only finished last night and though I thought I missed the deadline, the customer is happy and is picking them up tonight. The larger trees were somewhat of a challenge as I did not have a plan so drew them free-hand then made them from a 24" x 72" piece of exterior 1/2" plywood. The tree is supported by a base and brace, and they can be dismantled for storage.
Now I can finally start to relax and enjoy the holidays. I'm told the egg nog is waiting for me downstairs.
On that note, I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy and Safe Holiday Season!!

Merry Christmas from on the road
Hi during this Holiday Season!
This past week was filled with taking the motorhome out of winter storage and then driving it over to Phoenix, AZ to have Christmas with our Daughter.
No problems on the road except for the high winds. Just had to go slow!
Yesterday, while out doing some last minute shopping with "the ladies", I talked them into going to Rocklers in Phoenix. Wanted to get a new up-cut spiral bit. This turned into a several project store visit. My daughter found a plan for a craftsman style end table (she wants 2). My sweet bride found a box of banksia pods. As we had never seen anything like this before, had to figure out what they were for, or for that matter what they were from. After guessing they could be turned into vases or the like, we found a couple of sample turnings using the pods. Really different! (At least for us) Bought one, and then was talked into getting 3 more. If you are like me and don't know what banksia pods are - just google them.
Now that I have six planned projects on my list in addition to shutters, it's going to be a busy (fun) Winter/Spring in the shop! Oh yeah- almost forgot about the play blocks that have to be done for Daughter-in-law! That's seven projects.
With the broken water line we re facing when we get home - there will be no shortage of projects coming up! Just have to remember not to adjust the SS as it isn't broken!
Merry Christmas to ALL!

The True Joy of Family at Christmas
Although I have no desire to take away from honoring our Lord and Savior during Christmas, I am thrilled to have my daughter and Granddaughter visiting from Colorado. Today I enjoyed helping both learn to make pens. My seven year old granddaughter thinks the Shopsmith and Accessories are great fun. Truly Granpa is having the most fun and will have two more wookworkers in the family by the time they go home. Thank you Lord for these many blessings! Jim:D

Isaiah 9:6: For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given...
Christmas week, what a great time of year! To be able to celebrate it with family made it all the more special. The kids are heading back to their own homes, and one back to duty with the Navy (She was fortunate to get a week's leave at Christmas, but many others serving of course were not. My thoughts and prayers are with them and their families.)
I was on the receiving end of some great gifts including FIVE books written by Nick.
I also recieved a wood "Lath Art" kit to create an ocean beach scene. So I will be putting a new blade in the old jig saw and trying out something new.
I trust everyone's Christmas was as wonderful as mine.
