I did not equip with Shopsmiths in spite of the setups but because of them.
1 1988 - Mark V 510 (bought new), 4 Poly vee 1 1/8th HP Mark V's, Mark VII, 1 Mark V Mini, 1 Frankensmith, 1 10-ER, 1 Mark V Push-me-Pull-me Drillpress, SS bandsaw, belt sander, jointer, jigsaw, shaper attach, mortising attach, TS-3650 Rigid tablesaw, RAS, 6" long bed jointer, Foley/Belsaw Planer/molder/ripsaw, 1" sander, oscillating spindle/belt sander, Scroll saw, Woodmizer sawmill
I have bought worse but not for $600... I am quite sure that it would part out well or restore OK for someone like me with a lot of parts or someone like Bill Mayo. Even a pretty girl would look bad in that environment but they usually clean up nice too.
That jointer would ebay or use well. I would want the fence for the saw and the jointer both... I have sold a few jigsaws, not for a lot but money is money.
I might have even said $150 but not without a good caster set...
I was the most turned off by his original selling claims...
I usually just avoid doing business with people that are not just straight up...

maybe 50 for the SS, 50 for the jointer (if the fence can be found), and 50 for the jigsaw, but only if there is a bucket of accessories laying around (sanding disk, guards, lathe stuff) and even then that's probably too much, especially if you have to make a long drive at $4 a gallon.
Still, almost every SS can be revived with enough love, patience, elbow grease, parts and forum advice.
'55 Greenie #292284 (Mar-55), '89 SS 510 #020989, Mark VII #408551 (sold 10/14/12), SS Band Saw, (SS 500 #36063 (May-79) now gone to son-in-law as of 11-11), Magna bandsaw, Magna jointer 16185 (May-54), Magna belt sander SS28712 (Dec-82), Magna jigsaw SS4397 (Dec-78), SS biscuit joiner, Zyliss (knockoff) vise, 20+ hand planes, 60s Craftsman tablesaw, CarbaTec mini-lathe, and the usual pile of tools. Hermit of the Hills Woodworks, a hillbilly in the foothills of the Ozarks, scraping by.
My 12 yo son just last week bought a greenie in a little better shape than that with a jigsaw for $50 after the owner started at $400. The CL posting was about 2 weeks old and I'm pretty sure we were his only offer because he couldn't get the $50 fast enough. The joiner (if the fence can be located) is worth another $50.
1984 Mark V 500 and an early 1954 greenie. jointer, belt sander, bandsaw, jigsaw, planner.
