I did the same with a drill. I'll post a pix of my setup later. My problem is that after I waxed the tubes my SS sat for about 2 weeks and the tubes are starting to rust again already. Of don't know if I didn't wax them right or what?
1984 Mark V 500 and an early 1954 greenie. jointer, belt sander, bandsaw, jigsaw, planner.

Bill Mayo used a bracket on the end of a Shopsmith with wheels from a skateboard for the tube to rest on.
