New Mark 7
Does anyone have the new Mark 7? Comments? Would the upgrade of a Mark V with the Power Pro and tilt conversion be any different? Thanks for your comments.
Depending on what accessories you have/want, you may need more. http://www.shopsmith.com/markvsite/standardaccess.htm indicates that the Mark 7 includes a Shaper Arbor, Shaper / Router Shield, Shaper/ Router Table Insert, and 1/2" Router Chuck...none of which are standard for Mark V units, but all of which are things you could pick up seperately (or may have).poplarguy wrote:Does anyone have the new Mark 7? mark 7 vs Mark 5 + upgrades
Thanks for your comment. I have managed to collect the add on's you mentioned. I am trying to make a decision on a new machine or just up grade what I have. Mine is a vintage 1983 with the 520 upgrage which makes it a single quill motor. A new power pro and tilt base is over half the way to a new machine. Good to have the feed back.

If you have room (and $$$) pony up the missing almost half.
P.S. With the upgrades, you will have the following as 'surplus'. Headstock, end castings, TABLE tubes. Add Bench/way tubes, tie rod, legs, casters, carriage, table and you have a 'second' stripped down Mark V. As a 'second' unit a 500/Mark 5 carriage and table would be adequate(if you kept the 500 carriage and table . . . ). If short on room. make a shorty/mini! Makes a much improved power station.
