As I said earlier, patty cake is not a game these folks understand. Camerio, we don't drop bombs on people that don't agree with us. Rather, we negotiate, we compromise, we live in peace with them. And, please don't think this is some mere disagreement like what wages one should receive in compensation for one's labor, or some other matter that can be resolved through arbitration. These people murder innocent folks with the help of their supporters and deserve having bombs dropped on their heads. To not respond would be irresponsible, to say the least. This was a good day for the U.S. and our allies in the war on terrorism. And, as I heard on TV earlier today, Bin Laden now knows that there weren't 40 dark eyed virgins waiting for him.
We know that Bin Laden is out of the picture... They could not claim that he is dead if he was not "out of the picture". If he was not out of the picture he would be liable to pop up out of a hole like one of those gopher carnival games.
While I try very hard to avoid being part of the tinfoil hat crowd I do have to wonder, is he really dead? Or is he in a concrete box somewhere connected to the output side of an electric fence charger being pumped for information?
If he had been taken alive and shown publicly as alive the logistics would have been absolutely horrendous. Even failed rescue attempts by his followers could cost thousands of good lives.
So... He could be alive in a hidden box, dead in a big jar of formaldehyde or maybe he is really just fish food exactly as claimed. In any case he is out of the picture as far decision making is concerned...
I think the burial at sea is a good touch. We are not at war with Islam and there is no need to try to slap Islam in the face. We are at war with a bunch of extremest right wingers who's God would be embarrassed by them and their sick twisted beliefs. If we are honest we realize that we have plenty of such extreme nuts of our own...
Our own two major failures as a nation go back many many years. One was allowing international big business to have their way with the people of the Middle-east, plundering and stealing for a very long time. The second was a complete failure to provide basic secular education to the children of the area beginning about 50 years ago. Had they been given global secular knowledge starting 50 years ago they would not have been so easy to be led astray by the twisted lies of the radicals. It was not done because we as a nation we tend to be very globally selfish and short sighted. Of course we could say much the same thing about many of our own children. We spend our time teaching them how to live in yesterday's world instead of tomorrows... Or worse, we just fail to teach them how to live in any world at all...

Much as I agree with Farmer regarding discussion of 'items' like this, I feel compelled to add to it.
Osama was a modern holy war adherent of a battle that has been under way for centuries if not millenia. Misdirected? Yes, as most 'holy' wars are!
He is merely the latest(and the one with the most $$) and was not working alone. IIUC he was not the 'mastermind' of the 911 incident. There are others who are more of a threat since they are more under the radar.
Sadly the 'devil' lives in these poor misguided souls and are to be pitied, but not to the point of either tolerating their actions or of ignoring them.
Hopefully we can now turn our attention and resources that have been consuming so much these past 10 tears towards more directly useful objectives.

Neither the right nor the left strap bombs to their children and send them off to kill others. Moreover, big business is not the reason for their behavior, nor did big business plunder the Middle East, nor will 50 years of secular training rid them of their ways. Because, it is religion that is at the root of the issue. And while you may be right that we are not at war with Islam, we are indeed at war with radical Islam. Don't forget that they are fighting a "holy war" and their battle cry before they begin killing innocent men, women and children is "Allahu Akbar," or God is Great.

I have to take exception with this comment. First their god is a created being. Created by them. And as such in their creation of their god they have made him happy by their actions.
Islam is not a peaceful religion it is a religion built on man's imagination of a vengeful and vindictive God. In Islam the concept of God loving them is nonexistent. In fact the word love is seldom found in the Koran.
Unlike the God of creation, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Allah is god of retribution and getting even. There is no concept of grace, forgiveness, love or mercy. Allah as created by Islam would not be embarassed by any of their acts of terrorism.

And some were questioning last night why only US personnel were deployed!!!!

Today I am proud to be an American. However, I don't beleive it will bring closure to most people - just reopen old wounds. Without going into too much detail I served in a combat zone from Feb 67 - May 68. The marines DO draft people. I was with the 5th Marine Brigade. When I got home I took a line from Bob Dylans song "Knockin' On Heavens Door - Put my guns in the ground, I don't need them anymore." i haven't touched a gun since. We were the silent masses. No one asked where we were or cared to here about anything we went through. We stood out by our haircuts even if you didn't wear your uniform. Every Memorial Day I shed some tears. It reopens old wounds. Today my American pride overshadows some of the bitterness - A lot of my brothers have died from Prostate cancer. I have survived mine.
