Create a review for a woodworking tool that you are familiar with (Shopsmith brand or Non-Shopsmith) or just post your opinion on a specific tool. Head to head comparisons welcome too.
I have owned a speed reducer for about 6 months and till today, thought it could not be used on the left (accessory) side of the headstock. This, in spite of spending many happy hours browsing through past posts here.
Just ran across a reference to a Nick Engler session showing how to use it to run the bandsaw at a slower speed for cutting plastic and tracked the session down here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYMwRcEEPhg
Nick makes it possible by swapping a couple of hubs, leaving the reducer revolving in the correct direction! I realize the film is likely somewhere on the Shopsmith site too and now it is on my hard drive as well.
Presumably this could be useful for running the strip sander or jigsaw or scroll saw slower too.
Thought I would post this reminder here for other speed reducer owners who also did not know about this neat ability.

As a matter of reference, the description for using the speed reducer on the left side of the headstock for the bandsaw begins on page 16 of the owners manual.

I just received my speedreducer just last week from SS and I have not tried it yet or made it through the manual so this was good for me.
Thanks
