Lift- Assist upgrade

I'm thinking of upgrading my Lift-assist to the new PowerPro Cylinder for the eventual upgrade. Has anyone else done this with their existing non-PowerPro headstock?

I have the old lift assist and I also have the PP headstock. I do not find it to be a problem for me. It requires a little more effort due to the increased weight of the PP but not a lot. With the headstock at the center of the way tubes I can still lift it with little effort and I am 70 years old.

Clearly Bill is younger, stronger and more agile than I am. For which I congratulate him. Yes it is highly worthwhile. Without it I would be unable to lift the Power Pro headstock to drill press position. Truly an investment worth making. Fjimp

I also have a PowerPro with the original cylinder, and it works fine. I would caution you on putting the upgraded cylinder on a non-PowerPro headstock. While it may raise very easily - trying to lower it will be difficult as you don't have the extra weight of the PowerPro to offset the strength of the cylinder.

What are the dimensions of the under Mark V clearance with the lift assist installed? I am considering building a under-mount cabinet, so I'm thinking about making it somewhat modular such that if I get the lift-assist at some point I can just remove one section and have it still work?
