Can you help please?
Thistledew's wife here. He had a two strokes a week apart in the early fall, his vision is poor, so we need to sell the Mark V in the Northern California area. Is in great shape with many attachments, including the bandsaw. Any advice would be appreciated.
Your best bet may be eBay or Craigslist.
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders, molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

My guess is she was asking about advice on what to list it as for price, what to say in the title, and what to put in the ad to get the best hits.
Just my thought.
Can you give us a little information on the machine and we can maybe help you put together an ad for craigslist?
What is the serial number or do you know the year it was made. And can you post a picture or two?
When was the last time it was run and what all comes with it.
This will help in putting something together.
I hope your Husband gets better. God Bless

Thanks Everyone!
Spiderclimber,
Thanks so much, you understand perfectly. My husband is mending, but his memory is an issue as well. Just before the stroke, he was doing a project in the driveway and we moved it all in with the threat of rain.
I have to get into the garage with him and identify everything, take pictures etc. Right now getting the garden in around unusual weather is our priority, but should get to the garage next week at latest.
Any help with pricing suggestions will be much appreciated. And advice about how to tell if a would-be buyer is serious; kind of nervous about opening all to strangers.
Thanks for the blessings.

well keep us updated and try to get some of the things identified and answer a few of the questions in my previous post.
Then, I would go online on your local craigslist and ebay and search for shopsmith and shop smith and see what comes up. That may give you a starting price for what they are going for in your area. I happen to live about 2 hours from Dayton Ohio which is where Shopsmith is made. That makes them much more available around here and as such cheaper than say California.
If you are looking at the main shopsmith machine. the motor which sits on the metal tubes has a serial number on it. If you look at the motor, one side has a switch a dial that turns to adjust the speed. On the left end of the motor if starting out looking at the side with the switch, there is a metal plate that has the number on it, Find that and post it. Forum members can then tell you how old it is.

Sacramento Delta is too far for me to help. I wish I were closer.

My husband couldn't remember the Shopsmith community he joined, but he was sure you all would be helpful. Thanks all for the kindess he said you would show. Weather again delayed the garden, but we're grateful to be in the west and not suffering what so many are. We're getting there. I teach part-time and will be done after this week. Will post info ASAP. Again many, many thanks!

Here's pictures and info on Thistledew's Shopsmith and equipment
Thank you all again for your help. Spiderclimber, price suggestions and selling tips have been and will be most appreciated. Dick (my husband) says he'll only take cash, local pick-up, and will NOT part-out. Does this sound right? I am not at all familiar with any of this! We are in the Sacramento Delta, almost exactly between Sacramento and Stockton in Northern California.
It is a Shopsmith, Model # 50009-B, Serial # 100588. Is 115 volts and 60 HZ. It includes the bandsaw and has a computer printed manual for both, in a binder with page protectors as well as A Shopsmith Publication (in hard cover) Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone, 4th Ed.
Extras include:
Magna Dado
Assorted bandsaw blades (new)
Lathe turning tools (in excellent condition)
Drum sander with assorted sleeves (new)
Table inserts
Vacuum attachments for saws and table
Tried to attach pictures, without luck, on this post. I can, though, send pictures with an email, if this will help with pricing.
Thanks again. Dick is doing amazingly well, but his vision will never allow him to use the Shopsmith. We want it to go to someone who will appreciate this awesomely versatile tool.

Bets of luck maam in your selling. Trying to keep it all as a package deal is the best idea as your husband has said. Don't let anyone come see it and then try and take advantage of the situation, offering a few hundred less than what you want "and I have cash and can take it right now". Hold out and sell it to someone who appreciates the machine and sympathyzes with your situation as well. The character of some people out there isn't the best. Bottom line, find the "right" buyer, not "any" buyer. If you need help with the craigs list posting, let me know, my e-mail or a personal message here is fine. For that matter contact me and I'll give you my phone number and I can walk you throughit over the phone. Try and get a few good pictures (maybe 6-8) of the equipment for now (only 4 get posted).
