For anyone who has considered the Dewalt 788 scrollsaw but could not swing the $500 plus price tag, a break may be coming. Most of you are aware that Delta Power Tools has officially seperated from Dewalt and BD-Stanley. Delta will continue to carry their new scrollsaw (identical to the 788) but it will soon have the Porter Cable name instead of Delta. I am referring to their new saw that is exactly like the Dewalt, only a different color. Porter Cable will continue to carry their current less expensive saw, which may be located at Lowes and other stores. It may be in the works that Lowes will carry the new saw. If this happens, there will be a big hit to the Dewalt saws. IMHO, Delta may take over the market share for the mid range scrollsaw. The strong rumors that Dewalt will discontinue the 788 scrollsaw and concentrate on their construction tools is looking very much like reality. Be on the lookout in the near future for big sales on the Dewalt 788 Dewalt scroll saw.
