BandSawQuestion

Post by tsaguy »

I inherited my Shopsmith setup from my Grandpa. I love it. But the bandsaw table used to have a small aluminum circle that dropped down into where the blade would pass through the table portion. Once day it got bent as I was fiddling around. I can't flatten it enough to have it properly fit any longer. I looked on the Shopsmith site to purchase a new one, but the exploded drawing of parts isn't clear enough to identify that piece.

does anyone know of the name or item number?

If an item number doesn't exist for this part, does anyone know where to obtain such a part?

Or am I being too girly in wishing this could be replaced?

The older style cast iron table (the one with the two miter slots) uses a standard size insert. you should be able to get it at rockler, woodcraft, etc. 2 1/2" inserts are pretty common AFAIK. Sears, a big box store, or a better stocked hardware store might even have them.

If you want to get the shopsmith on, http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/part ... pview2.htm has the exploded view, and http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/part ... list_2.htm has the parts list. You want PN 502736 "Old Table Insert Assembly" - 2-1/2".
