I am reassembling a Magna vintage belt sander and either it did not have one or the shop gremlins stole it, but I do not have the curved washer(43A) shown on the current SSInc. Exploded view.

Any body know if the Magna vintage included this part # 515619?
The use of the 'A' suffix causes me to wonder if has been added since my Magna vintage was built. It would eliminate some 'play'.

The curved washer was not standard equipment in older belt sanders. I have a manual from July, 1972 that does not show the curved washer. Additionally, it carries a copyright of 1955. The idler drum assembly on your sander must have been in real bad shape to go to that level of dis-assembly. Or were you trying to figure out how things work?;)

1) Thank You!!!!
2) Not too bad, but since color change was in the plan, total disassembly was reqiired.
3) That too!
Disassembly took place almost two years ago! Been on back burner since. Now on front burner!:)

Do you have the manual or are you winging it?

I did not 'disassemble' the idler drum(left those tension pins alone)..., but did remove it and pull the 'shafts' out(not loose!) to clear out the old grease and apply new grease(used lithium). Both sides needed to be separated from all the other stuff.SDSSmith wrote:You don't need to disassemble the idler drum to change the paint color. ]
I have a manual of the 'later' SS Inc. vintage. I learned from Nick's sawdust session also. Gonna watch it again before starting.
Closer examination this evening, reveals there is more 'different' than the curved washer. The tension pin is inside the cam(39?).
Ya gotta pdf of an exploded view of the older version?????(Please!!!):D

Good enough to 'compare' - Not much difference parts wise! 'Missing' washer no longer a concern!!!

Watched Nick struggle with one in the sawdust session. Noticed - NO curved washer on his 'Magna'.
