conical sanding disk

I have used and really like my conical disk. But until recently I had just a 10ER. While using it with the 10ER I would run the stop nut to the stop and lock the spindle. Then make a pass. Now I would loosen the stop nut about a quarter turn. Release the spindle and push it out to the stop nut. That would increment the disk for the next pass. Then repeat as needed.
Now for the question, now I have a mark VII (old one) what do I do to increment the disk? Just guess or what?

You could 'guess' or you could increment it one mark on the stop scale. The M5 has a spring washer on the lock side of the quill advance that allows the quill to 'stay' put when released, but will allow forced adjustment of the quill. I assume the MVII does also.

1/4 turn on the ER is 1/44" or .023". One mark on the MV is 1/16" or .063".

I think you could be more aggressive with your feed.
