I think the principle would work just as well as with any other table saw but for one major hangup. The Wixey attaches using magnets and there is nothing on the Mark V table system that is magnetic (at least not where you would need it).

THOUGHT: There is a flat that runs the width of the rails. There is some space beneath the RipFence and that flat area. You could possibly put some maxnetic tape in the flat and adapt the Wixey. Seems like more work than I would be willing to invest, especially on top of $99 for the Wixey.

dadohead,

According to Wixey's website, you do not need to have magnetic fence or fence rails for this system, and it will work with Excalibur fence. Also according to the dowloadable owner's manual it will work with round fence rails. This is per the Q&A section:

Will the WR700 Fence Readout fit on a fence with a round rail?
Yes, The WR700 will fit on almost any type of fence as long as the bottom of the rail has room to mount our track. Round rail fences may require some extra spacers or brackets to be made, or possible just some extra holes drilled in the track to line up with existing holes in the rail mounting.

You might want to review the manual before you buy. It would be very interesting to know if it would work with the 510 style rails and fence.

Sincerely,

I have my doubts about using it on a Mark V.

These folks operate with an outstanding customer service philosophy. Email them and ask. Who knows, it just might make them give Shopsmith another thought.

The Sawsmith 2000 was produced with two different fence systems. The Excalibur fence (as shown on the Wixey link), and a 510 style rails and fence.

Dadohead did not mention what fence he has so I discussed both in my response.

It occured to me that if the Wixey will work on a Sawsmith 2000 with the 510 style rails and fence, it should also work on a 510, which may be of interest to 510 users.
