Removing old warning label
When I upgraded by 500 to a 510 I placed the new warning label over the original one and everything looked great.
The PowerPro labels are smaller so I needed to remove the old labels, all the upgrade labels came right off leaving me the original 500 label to remove.
I tried the orange sticker remover and all it did was make the exposed glue very bumpy and didn't do anything to get the old sticker off.

Any ideas?

Removal
I would try lacquer thinner and if that didn't work then use acetone.

Will lacquer thinner, acetone or heat gun remove the Mark V paint? I don't want that to happen.

Paul,
When I did my upgrade I decided to save the old stickers and used an artists pallet knife to carefully remove them. This was pretty simple and only took a few minutes. To remove the adhesive I rubbed on some Goo Gone until it was a gooey mess, the Goo Gone doesn't dissolve the glue but it does soften it quite a bit. Next, dry paper towels to remove the bulk of the softened adhesive. Finally, cleanup with denatured alcohol, this will not harm your paint. You will want to remove the sticker first as they are pretty tough (I probably don't need to tell you this.
) and are fairly resistant to solvents.
Hope this helps,
Troy

I have been using Goo Gone and it doesn't do much (you can see what it did in the top picture). Acetone is my only hope and I need to make sure it does not damage the paint. The 510 stickers came off intact with little effort.

Update, Acetone does not seem to do anything to the headstock paint, and did remove the readable part of the label and soften the glue. Then Goo Gone turned it into little rubber cement balls, several paper towels later and the label is 90% off.
I will finish it up tomorrow.

Ok, don't laugh. Use peanut butter - the cheaper the better. The oil should take it off. Just glop it on and it leave it overnight or so.
I have also had good luck with Aqua net hair spray, if they still make that stuff. We use to use that to take stickers off of some merchandise back in the days when you still price marked everything on the store shelves.
