Spindle rotation movement
My 510 upgraded to 520 has the 2 bearing spindle. I can rotate the spindle forward or backward approx. 1/32. With the saw blade attached the movement is amplified to approx. 1/8 " out on the teeth. When I move the saw blade there is no rotational movement on the opposite end of the headstock until the "slack" is taken up. Tech at SS said it sounded like the drive ring assembly had some missing teeth. Sounded good to me, so I ordered part #57 on the headstock diagram (drive ring assembly). Took the drive assembly apart (never been that deep into my headstock before!) and the drive ring looked OK, but replaced it with the new part. Put everything back together and guess what? Still have the slight rotational movement on the spindle end. Seems like both ends are connected via this drive ring piece and both ends (spindle and power take off) should have the exact same movement. Am I being to "pickey" or is the an indication of a problem?

Your assessment is correct. The Drive Sleeve Assembly (#56), the Drive & Ring Assembly (#57) and the Spindle Assembly (#62) when installed make up the main drive shaft and are in essence one piece.
But, the three pieces are attached into this assembly by the mating of the splines. It has been my experience that the Drive & Ring Assembly and the Drive Sleeve Assembly fit together with NO rotational play.
Whatever slop there is in the shaft is introduced by the spline (Drive & Ring Assembly connected to the Spindle Assembly).
That is the long way to say that the rotational movement that describe are, in my opinion, normal. The only comment that I might add is "make certain that the arbor set screw is tight" and that there is NO rotational slop between the blade and arbor.

I would be very surprised if you could find one that didn't have some play in it. Such "clearance" is just part of parts that must move.

1/8" at a radius of 5" amounts to less than 1 1/2 degrees. IMHO not something to be concerned about.
It amounts to less than.012" play in the splines.
A loose drive pulley would create play to the belt only(not to the upper aux. shaft).
