I think it's a good alternative to anything else I've seen so far.
The ER gauge on the left is original paint, The E gauge on the right is the new paint, so is the motor end cap.
So is this old news?

I see dark blue in the original color. That also matches my recollection from 'original days'. I believe the blue fades over a few decades.
I 'blended' my own 'mix' by comparing it to an area of an extension table bracket that was not exposed(not faded etc.). It has a bit of red included.
We played with the mix, so 'formula' does not exist.
I like the dark gray better than the typical lighter machine tool gray.
There have been different paints used so here is no one exact color.
