Anyone used these blades?

Post by Shop_Smith_Poppi »

Just wondering if any one here with a band-saw has used any of these blades before? And do they work well with your SS band-saw?

No, I have not used Olsen blades but I have heard that they are Good. I have used Shopsmith blades for all my woodworking needs. Why change?

Yes, I am currently using a 72" Olsen 3/8" 4tpi bandsaw blade. It is convenient for me to buy these locally at Woodcraft. I'm happy with it.

Hi Guys;
I think that this post will probably offend some but here goes anywhoo.
About a year ago I bought some Olsen bandsaw blades from a local Woodcraft in Orlando. When I used the first one it broke at the weld the first time it was used. I had other business in Orlando the next week and took the blade back and asked if it was guaranteed for weld integrity and was told that it was not. However the people at the store did replace the blade because it was a recent purchase.
About 4 months later i repaired the SS bandsaw at our community woodworking shop and used the second blade to make a test cut. It performed OK until i coiled it up to put it back in the sleeve and the weld broke. I E-Mailed Olsen and was told that they would send me a replacement if I E-Mailed the info on the package. I did and I am still waiting for the replacement. (about 5 months).
As a result I will put my coins in SS blades.
