Lead filled bench tubes?

Ok guys I just talked to a local Tire shop here in town. They want .50 cents a pound for their unwanted lead weights.

Buy lead shot by the 25# bag at a gun store that deals with shotgun shell reloading.

This used to cost $10.00-$15.00 per bag for #8 size shot. With the "green movement"'s use of storage batteries and Chinese demand the price has more than doubled to sometimes triple the above prices.

Molten lead is not a fun thing to play with. ANY amount of moisture in the tubes will cause instant steam and an explosive spray of hot lead.

If you fill the tubes with lead shot, you can always resell it at a later date to a trapshooter that reloads. There will always be a market for resale.

Reclaimed lead shot right out of the firing range in 25# bags......$25.00:eek: $1.00 a pound for lead! I'm in the wrong business.

Talked to the guy this morning. It's all lead shot they sell the steel shot in different bags. He's the guy actually running the cleaning at the range.
