Shopsmith & Dust Collection

Post by S Brian »

Moved from General Woodworking.

I am trying to adapt my 4" dust collector hose to my bandsaw and jointer. I have the plastic Street "L" from SS which fits both SPT's, but I cannot find an adapter to go to my 4" quick-connect fitting on the end of the collector hose.

The large end of the SS "L" is 2.280" I.D. and 2.450" O.D. I have a 4" x 2-1/2" adapter, but it is the same diameter as the SS "L". The only thing I have that fits the SS "L" is my 2-1/2 Shopvac hose and it fits nicely inside the large end of the "L".

Peachtree Woodworking has a 2-1/4 x 2-1/2 reducer and a 2-1/2 x 2-1/4 reducer, so I am thinking one of those might work with my 4 x 2-1/2 adapter.

Have any of you had this problem and found a solution?

Thanks for your help!

I don't know about Peachtree, but I have this adapter (4" to 2 1/4") from Penn State Industries and it fits the Shopsmith openings in the bandsaw etc -- http://www.pennstateind.com/store/D4X2SVE.html

I have been using this and these from Rockler a lot lately. I have one going to my Miter-saw, another to my Kreg jig and one to my Shopsmith SPT's. They are cheap enough to just custom cut them for each tool.

If you have the Dust Right system you can look at these.

Since Rockler is just a few miles from me I save shipping and they always have 20% and 50% off coupons.
