little things that go wrong "Quill Feed Handle"

If you need to look it up [513017], so you say what can go wrong with one of these??

I thought not much. In fact I've never had a problem until now.

Twist to tighten and:

Twist and pull and it will come off.

[ATTACH]14303[/ATTACH]

The fun thing is a few years back I wanted to take the plastic off of one of these to make an extension, that was to make it longer. No way could I get it off until I ended up cutting it off. This one just spins off.

I guess I'll ruff up the metal with some sandpaper and epoxy it back on....

Anyone else have this happen?

If you have a framing hammer with the waffle pattern on the anvil, lightly wack the steel rod a few times and then tap the plastic handle back on.
Works for me!

I had this happen to a handle on the jointer. Epoxy has been working for about 5 years now.

I have one that I can rotate on the shaft but I have never pulled it off.

My handle did it when new and the replacement given to me at the Cincinnati Shopsmith store (The good old days:) ) does it too.

I do not think the older stubby handles will rotate or come off. The plastic is molded onto the stem.

I prefer the older ones. More to grab a hold of. They just fit my hand better.
