Jigsaw alignment helo

I have a Jigsaw that I have refurbished, it turned out great so far. I finally got some blades today. I went out to try it out but I can't get it to line up when trying to get a blade in it. Either the top or the bottom does not is not aligned properly and I can't figure out how to align it. Would you guys help me get it aligned, Please?

This is where the Head attaches to the top. Looks ok to me.

This would be the problem. The blade is about 1/4" off of alignment. How do I bring it back into alignment?

Try reversing the top blade holder. The top housing and arm can be installed at an offset angle. The bottom housing and arm looks OK.

The upper housing on the jigsaw attaches to an eccentric which fits inside of the tubular arm. You will note that it has a notch in it. By rotating the eccentric you will change the alignment between the upper housing and the lower assembly. It will take a little trial and error.

I tried reversing it and that helped it cut the mis-alignment in half.

This is the best I could come up with but I don't really like it, so any more ideas are greatly appreciated.

This is what I ended up with above the table. I works but I don't really like it.

Here's why - The only way I could get it to line up was by pulling the bottom arm out this far.

Hi,

Not at all sure if this is the case but the blade seems off in the top holder. It might be just the picture but then???

Here is a picture shot from the underside looking at the top holder. The blade goes between the 2 jaws... might want to take a look at that area for missing parts or adjustment of blade position.

Ed,

All is good on the blade holder, in the first pic that your looking at the blade wasn't in the holder it's just in the bottom sticking up towards the top. I now have the blade in between the holders, both top and bottom.

What does your arm placement look like? Is it pulled out like I now have it or is it pushed all the way in? Could you get me a pic of the head attached to the arm so I can see the placement for comparison?

Lets take a look at the lower blade holder.

Notice the large screw adjustment on BOTH sides and the spacer discs(2). The right screw is adjusted so that the blade is almost all the way to the right. The blade is secured by tightening the left screw squeezing the blade between the two discs. The disc on the right is hidden.

Different from the manual I got off line, but that is how I aligned it prior to getting the manual. The manual only indicates one screw(the left one). This particular saw has the CI table. After seeing Ed's posts below, I realized that I had been ASSUMING the roll pin would assure proper alignment. Tain't so!!!!!!! Thanks Ed.

Realize the blade must align with the blade holders also repositioned 90 degrees.(front feed and left side feed)

Your lower blade holder appears to have both screws.

If I understand the pin out of the notch oix, you are pushing the upper blade holder towards the rear. The other pix shows you are installing the blade for feeding from the left side. IIUC pulling the tube away from the bottom 'stuff' moves the upper 'stuff' to the left in all your pix.

I would reattach the blade holders for front feeding. This should tell if Rob's suggestion of twisting the upper head relative to the arm is required. That twisting will cause the upper blade holder to shift left/right due to the upper stuff rotating(tilting). See Ed's posts below re tube alignment!!!!!

Once the front feed setup is correct, then check the side feed setup.

So this morning I pulled my jig saw out in the sunlight to have a better look at it and take a few pictures.

What became clear to me was that I don't quite see what problem you are having from the pictures shown. I know it might be clear to some but I think I'm just guessing...

Anyway here are a few pictures. Starting with what the top end looks like:

While here I also wanted to point out that one may not be able to get alignment by just shoving the tube in and having it rest in the notch. I take my arm off maybe a bit more then average but I have noted I need to check and most often redo the alignment. The next two photos show how much variation I see on my unit.

I actually did a tune up just to make sure everything still lined up. With the table tilt set for 0 (zero) things look pretty good in this axes too.

In case you are wondering why I seem to have so much free area around the blade this should explain it:

I loosen the nut and swing it out of the way... note the amount of wiggle room you have for alignment via the large hole.

To start finishing the alignment off rotate this part back and adjust where you want it and tighten the nut, now for the tubes...

Now I get to take the blade out, take the arm off and put it away for another day UNLESS anyone wants more pictures. I'll give you a couple of hours then I have to put it away.
