Sometimes its hard to get one and the other .... ?
Issue #124 of that publication is available for download, so I imagine that #125 will be available the same way next month.

I just got a trail copy of ShopNotes. It is the current issue #125. It is a very different magazine...no ads. At least some of you take it. If a guy only had 2 or 3 WW mag subscriptions, is this one that would make the list?

I am a newbie so I don't make the best suggestions, but.... The things I have noted on the sled that 'reible' bought, and that he uses, are the hold-downs and their tracks on the floor of the sled. That and the replaceable inserts he has might be good modifications.

I have just finished rereading
Ed's review of his sled from Appalachia Tool Works. I had forgotten where it was. A good review with lots of pictures. And lots of good sled features pointed out.

To reply to your question... YES.. Shopnotes is definitely a magazine I would not want to be without. I got bit by the bug when I bought an old wood workers magazine library at an estate sale and he had many of the issues of shopnotes in there... I would ALMOST put it in front of wood may.
Just my opinion is all...I like it :-)

I picked up this issue the other day. I think it is a very good design. Some points I thought of was I would take the article's advice and use an aftermarket miter bar because you can dial in the fit and on this design the bar rides in different miter slots depending on the operation. I thought that was a nice use of space.
I would also make the sled wider. 14" minus the 3/4" fences only gives you the ability to cut a board 12-1/2" or less. Now, if all your using the base sled for is boxes, then keep what the plans say. I however would like something to cut panels around 18" or so. The add-ons could go on any size sled.
I thought the box joint jig and indexed miter spline jig were pretty niffty.

From that picture the sled resembles the "Super Sled", which has several how to make it videos on YouTube.
