Bandsaw fence measurements

The rear rail supports the fence when you move it to the left of the table. The instructions tell you to shim the rear rail such that the top of the rail is even or slightly below the bandsaw table surface.

Thanks to Curious George, I have dimensions for the front and rear fence brackets. I bought a piece of aluminum angle for the rear bracket, as I thought I can drill the two 3/8" un-threaded holes.

The front bracket is more complicated because the bottom (1/8") and the side (5/16") are different depth, and a piece of standard angle stock would not work. I sent out to some machine shops a request for a quote for one front bracket, and the only response I received was for $315!

Shopsmith apparently does not sell the front bracket as a separate item.

Would a front bracket made from hardwood work? I could make the 1/8" depth thicker, I think, but I am not sure that I could make the 5/16" depth any thicker without interfering with the attachment of the front mounting rail. The front mounting bracket requires two threaded holes (1/4" - 20 to receive 5/8" round head cap screws that attach the front mounting rail to the front bracket). Could I use threaded inserts to the hardwood for the two threaded holes?

Any other ideas?

Dusty, no that is not the part number that I need, but I just double checked with SS, and they do sell the front and rear rails that I need! I was told originally by SS that I could not order just the rails, but I just placed my order. Problem solved! Thanks for pressing me to double check with SS. Hank
