I originally started with it down on the way tubes as well and it just didn't work. So tried what you see, with it on the back side and the sides notched out so as to not get in the way when turning pens.

Just note though, when I turn bowls, I pretty much have to get it all off and out of the way, unless they're really small. The few I've done so far have been in the 8"-11" range and needed the extra space (and the speed reducer).

Welcome to the fun Dave. This is a great group of people here and extremely knowledgeable re: Shopsmith and lots of stuff in general. Being a smaller forum than IAP, it's a bit less formal.

Thanks for reminding about this place, when I first signed up several years ago, I couldn't do anything as far as opening attachments or replying.

Creating a new account got me in and running, so we'll see where that leads!
