Is there any advantage on using an 10ER over a Mark V for a dedicated unit to drill press?

I have several Mark V but I wonder if I should pick an ER10 for drill press only as I have seen them often.

In my experience I find I use the disk sander and lathe almost everyday. Having to switch out the sander and lathe setup everytime I wanted to use the drill press was a pain. For $75-$150 you can pick up a nice 10ER. For another $40 or so you can replace all the bearings and have a brand new dedicated drill press. I find I'm using my drill press almost as often as my bandsaw and disk sander, not to mention my lathe setup for turning bowls. To save space I cut the base in half and leave it in the vertical position. I can lower it if necessary to do some disk sanding and the tubes just stick out beyond the end support. Plus, I have found it very rewarding to be able to bring a 60 year old piece of machinery back to life. My second 10ER wil be dedicated as a jigsaw on a shortened base as well so I don't have to swap out the bandsaw.

Thanks for the insight. I guess having a 10ER or MARK V for the drill press function is a matter of circumstances as both can perform well.
So I'll keep with one standard model then; the ones I have, Mark V

I just acquired another 10ER to restore and it came with a Jig Saw. My question is does anybody have experience using it and how do you like it. I'm thinking of dedicating this 3rd 10ER that I'm restoring for just the Jig Saw. That way I can keep my Band Saw mounted on my 520. How does the 10ER Jig Saw compare with the one on my 520. You know, the one that leaks oil all over the place:D I'm planing on trying out my 2nd ER as a dedicated pen turner. I'm planning on cutting both down into shorties so I can fit them into my half of the garage along with my dedicated drill press ER and 520. Of course I have to move my wife's car out so I can move everything around to work.

Hey Fred, how did that A-34 (10ER) jigsaw work out for you? I have one that came with my own 10ER, but I haven't restored it yet.

The reason I ask is that I'm working on some shop layout changes in order to squeeze in more equipment, and I'm wondering if I'll need space to keep my model 610 jigsaw. Right now it's on its own Power Stand, and that floor space will have to be reclaimed for sure.
