The SS websiye indicates that the gold/brown anniversary models 60-63 had the poly V belt. Do not know, mine deffinately has a poly V with the 1 1/8 motor.bettyt44720 wrote:Also I believe a '62 would have a "gilmer" belt and a '63 would be a "poly-v" with the 1 1/8 hp motor.
Thanks for the tip, never thought of putting it in the vertical position for lubrication.charlese wrote:Like others said = start the motor and turn it to high speed. Then shut it down (at high speed setting). Now raise the unit to drill press position and liberally oil the shaft. Now you should be able to spread the spring and find the oil hole. You can now lower to horizontal position and pull the sheave out against the spring several times. You will feel it loosen up. Keep oiling and pulling until you feel it sliding freely against the spring.
Don't let the sheave slide back with a snap. You will want to maintain a strong hand.

The tubes on my Goldie, (if I measured correctly, and I am pretty sure I did) are 1 3/4". This was eyeballing it using an aluminum carpenters square.JPG40504 wrote:Yuba, or Magna American?
Sorry to be be a pest about this, but, the changeover to 1 3/4" bench tubes has been elusive. Greenies had 1 7/8" bench tubes and some early Goldies with 3/4 hp motors/gilmer belts.
