Router Table 555995 (521962)

Has anyone attempted to make a handmade version of the Pro Fence to enable dust collection and sliding infeed and outfeeds, which would slip over SS rip fence?

I am unsure how to use the various built-in screw-in receptacles in the SS 555995 Router Table. I read where featherboards could be added to the table, but I'm not sure how this works. I would welcome some instruction.

Making an attachment (or pair of attachments) that would mount on the rip fence and was hollow to facilitate dust collection should not be a real challenge.

The rip fence is already equipped with tracks that accept the t-nuts so it would be simple to make it adjustable (back and forth on the fence).

I think I would want the dust collection area to be circular. Drilling that long a hole might be difficult. I would consider building the fence around a piece of PVC.

There is extruded aluminum pieces available on-line that would be perfectly suited to this task.

One source.

I have other more appropriate sources bookmarked on the other computer. I'll try to locate those later.

No, but I did make a "sacrificial fence" system which tightens down with a couple of T-nuts with attached screws and knobs! That way, I can attach a thicker piece if scrap board to it if I wish to.

521962 Router Table: What are holes for?

I could use education on the use of the pre-drilled holes on the 521962 router table. Dusty in his post mentions that they could be used for feather boards. I'm not quite understanding how to affix feather boards to this table.

Any help would be welcome.

Questions about 555995 Router Table

Dusty,
You mentioned an something in your post about the 555995 Router Table about topside feather boards being able to be used. I could use some help in illustrating this point. How that works is not apparent to me.

Also, have you considered installing a T-Track to enable a miter gauge to be used?

Thanks.

The table is equipped with threaded inserts that can be used to mount feather boards. Attached is a photo that shows those inserts. (sorry about the poor quality picture)

When I first got the table I regretted that it had no T-Track. Now that I have used it for a few years, I must say that not having a T-Track has never been an issue.

If you really feel like you need a T-Track, I suppose one could be added. Shopsmith does sell a track that would work.

If thinking about doing this, give consideration to table strength. Cutting a dado into the table might weaken it.
