For the OEM clips that come with a SS 'B/C', as Bill has mentioned, squeezing them can help with retention. I would add to form(bend) the sharp corners in so they 'dig' in. However over tightening the screw will flatten them back.
My experience with tinnerman clips may have given me a false impression. I gained that experience while working for a defense contractor. It is possible that our tinnermans clips were ordered to meet specifications.

Don't over tighten the screw.:rolleyes:

Had to use the VW micro-bus to pull the T-Bird back home!:p The Bird wasn't new by any means. It was bought and used as a training project for a high school kid who wanted to become a mechanical engineer. It worked!!!
