I agree with Josh. In fact, in general, I find eBay prices too close to SS prices for my liking. Not always, of course, but often enough.

One has to keep in mind that you have to add shipping prices to SS prices. Still, at least you are getting brand new, unused merchandise.

On the sanding disk IMHO - if you really need one, I would certainly pop for one from eBay for $45 (including shipping) if it was in really nice shape. Getting some sanding disks would be a nice bonus. I have been looking for another one myself (I presently have 1 velcro, 1 PSA and 1 conical and I would love one more for PSA) but nothing leaps out at me. And actually I need some drum sanders first.

I am seeing now the benefit from buying from somebody that actually used the machine and could have gone through all the operations with me. My research was not good enough. I'm seeing that I am missing different things here and there. I don't have the allen wrench for the arbor stuff!! No sanding disk, but I gotta bunch of paper and saw blades!! Not sure I have all the lathe stuff, 1 tool. I didn't get the over fence pusher thing but I got a tennen jig of some kind. Does not look like it was ever used. I picked up paste wax and got everything moving freely now. I don't have the single quill feed handle but I do have a three handle drill press handle. So many details for a newbie.

Ahh, but figuring it all out is half the fun! Come to think of it, that just might be the tie that binds us Shopsmith aficionados together ...

Velcro is a personal 'preference'. I do not like it. But then I have several discs. The velcro is 'removable'.

The older aluminum discs and the shorter arbor will work, but only off the side of the table.

Ok whats the secret to removing the Velcro for the disc?

That does not make me a happy camper!

Since the velcro will 'wear out' I assumed it is detachable.

I had misgivings when I ordered the conversion kit.

They were confirmed when I got it in hand.

I only 'converted' one disc.

I have rarely used it, so I guess I have a lifetime supply of discs.

Gotta be something that dissolves the sticky back.
