if you have wedges already and they are distorted, thats is okay as long as you can get them in the CH with the blades, if I remember right it is the head of the set screws that go against the blades, to lazy to go to garage and check mine, I will be putting my newly sharpened blades in mine tomorrow, but toll them out 4 weeks ago. I just installed blades in an other jointer, not a SS and thats how they go, same in a Delta.

1) the blades them selves are tapered. Thicker at the base.

2) The cutter head blade slots are wide and provide room for both the blade and the wedge. One side of the wedge is square and aligns with the straight side of the cutter head slot.

3) The other side of the wedge matches the angle of the adjacent blade.

4) As the wedges are drawn into the slots, the wedge presses against the straight side and the blade side thus exerting side force to hold the blade in.


So all that is required are straight sides and proper sized holes with a counter bore to accept the screw head and washer
(if so included).

Being fairly soft, the wedges are deformed easily.

I believe minor touching up the sides with a file and clearing the mounting screw holes will be as effective as a new set(or at least adequate).

But then I have not seen the wedges from down under.

I sacrificed spilling my Martini and went to the garage/shop to look at the SS jointer cutter head, I was wrong, they mount differently, so for get what i posted and listen to JPG
